Chapter 9
Up one level
The source code for
Chapter 9, "Create
Time-Shifted FM
Radio". FYI, it
looks like the WinTV-go-FM
card I used for the
project is no longer
available new. I
haven’t personally
tested any other
cards, but I
think that
the
Hauppauge
Wintv-Radio card
works with FMTools,
so it should be
fine. It’s $73 at
Amazon. You also
might try a
different approach.
What I’m doing now
to record FM radio
is to run a cable
from the line-out on
my stereo to the
line-in on my
computer’s sound
card, and record FM
radio directly from
the line-in. That
doesn’t give you the
ability to change
channels (well, you
could hack an IR
blaster), but if you
only want to record
a single channel,
it’ll work and the
sound quality will
probably be better
than you’d get out
of a PCI card.
